I wanted to share with you the best recipe I've ever found for iced Christmas Cookies. Beware, they are time-consuming AND they will disappear quickly unless well-hidden!Nonnie’s Christmas CutoutsCream together ½ cup butter and add ½ cup sugar and 1 egg yolk. Sift together 1 ½ cup flour, 1/8 teaspoon salt and ½ teaspoon baking powder. Add flour mixture to butter mixture alternately with 3 tablespoons milk and ¼ teaspoon almond extract. Chill in refrigerator at least ½ hour and as long as overnight. Roll out to 1/8” on a floured board, cut out with floured cutters. Bake 10 minutes at 350 degrees on ungreased cookie sheets (parchment paper prevents burning). Frost cooled cookies with a mixture of confectioner’s sugar, milk, vanilla and food coloring (if desired). Top with sprinkles, red hots, and any other decorative icings.
